In close to 15 years exploring seasons, we’ve found a rhythm and a way forward that has us gravitating toward shapes and colors that bring us joy. To define a collection is to say: a moment in the season, an evolution of the past, and original pieces in the present.
We offer two seasonal collections per year: summer and winter. Each includes an assortment of our dinnerware in special, limited-edition glazes, often featuring a new glaze technique on select pieces. It’s also a chance to collaborate with our fellow designers to inspire custom and exclusive offerings with our seasonal palette, from glass to soft goods. It’s our opportunity to dig into our history and experiment with color, material, and technique. We explore new boundaries in our glaze development and production techniques (especially hand-crafted) that’s at the heart of Heath.

This season’s palette: primaries, wholesome and rich, against a dry, earthy backdrop. Lovely as separates and even more so in concert, this palette has no primary color. Each piece enjoys the company of its counterparts in creating a dramatic, yet quiet, wintery grouping. Bright, earthy Turmeric harkens to the early days of Heath, with a vintage feel — speckled and grounded. Shifting from brown to green, Hickory comes from our tile glaze palette, reminding us of our original brown clay body — and we like its metallic sheen. Bluejay arose from our exploration for the new Coupe dinnerware glazes, and Black Plum is a familiar favorite from this year’s Summer Seasonal collection.
For us, the seasonal collections are our time to experiment, take risks, and share our take on a color palette that feels fresh and exciting. We started with some fast and loose exploration of glaze on tile, dipping each end with different glazes and playing with color combinations (kind of like dominos). Special technique glazes Quarry and Basin are flipped and dipped multiple times, in several glazes, resulting in four lovely bands of color. Both Quarry and Basin start with a dipped layer of Caramel glaze, and each gets a unique second and third layer of glaze that creates the reactive, textured effect.

You’ll find this palette on our vases, mugs, bowls, containers, trays, and candleholders. The Heath Sews Studio, our in-house soft goods design and production studio, collaborated with our friends at Adelene, creating Large Reversible Totes with fabric handcrafted and sewn in their North Carolina studio.
